Day 4: While mommy was recovering from surgery, she experienced a spinal headache and had to have a small procedure done before we could leave. It was definitely a long day but we were able to get you home to 228 Loskin that evening. The road to recovery was ahead and we were so happy to have you home and get into a routine with our little buddy ;).
Once I was in recovery, they brought you to me and I was able to hold you and start feeding you. It was a very special time. Once they moved us to our actual room, you were able to meet all of your new family members!! Your BIG SISTER Chappell could not wait to meet her baby brother!! It was such an amazing moment to see her holding you and giving you kisses for the first time. She loves you sooo much!! And your other family members were so excited to hold you and meet you...we got some great pictures to capture it!
The next day your Aunt Lissa and first cousin Jackson came to visit too!
Daddy and some of the nurses took you to the nursery while they finished with my surgery. They were trying to guess how much you weighed in the operating room and it was around 9 lbs that they were guessing. The phone rang and they said you were 8 lbs. 9 oz. and 20.75 inches long. You were a big boy!! Here are some sweet pics from the nursery.
As they prepared me for surgery, I knew it would only be about 20 minutes until I met you for the first time. It was so exciting because this time we knew what to expect and were just ready for you to get here!! Daddy came in once they were ready to begin and Dr. Jones and about 10 other doctors and nurses got to work. I had a smile from ear to ear on the other side of the partition so excited to hear your sweet cry. The clock struck 10:00 AM on the dot and you were born!! I heard Ally say "he's a BIG boy" and "He has blonde hair!!" As the tears of joy were streaming down my face they handed you to me and I saw the most beautiful baby boy I've ever seen staring back at me. I fell in love that moment.
It was approximately 6:45 AM on Friday, March 8th. This is the date that I had planned in my head to have you and when I went to the dr they couldn't do it until the 13th because my dr was going to be out of town and I was a day shy of 39 weeks at that point. The only way I would be able to have you on this perfect day would be if it was in God's plan. Well it was!! I had a feeling when I went to the doctor earlier that week and saw my friend Ally (Dr. Jones). I grew up with her and was a little too modest to have her be my OBGYN but at the same time would love for her to be the one who delivered you. She told me that she would be on call all weekend in case I go into labor and I just had this "feeling" that we would be seeing her. That Friday AM, i woke up to my water breaking. I knew that is what it was because I remember it happening in a very similar way when I had your big sis. I called the doctor and they told me to come up to the hospital to meet Dr. Jones. I started having contractions on the way to the hospital and by the time we got there they were pretty bad and very painful. Big sis Chap was sooo excited. We threw on her "BIG SISTER" shirt and she held my hand while they were monitoring me and getting me ready for surgery. Although I was in a lot of pain, the excitement definitely outweighed the discomfort. Dr. Jones had them give me something to delay my contractions and help subside the pain until I could have my c-section. Your grandparents and uncle were all there waiting to meet you. It was a beautiful and amazing day...one of the best days of my life.
It could be any day now...we are anxiously awaiting your scheduled c-section on March 13th (our anniversary) or for my water to break and go into labor like I did with Chappy. Being super pregnant didn't stop me from being out and about though. Here are some pics of me and your big sis right before I had you.
We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in our lives. Thankfully we were given several showers for you so that we could get some blue items to add to our very pink and girlie collection. The first shower was an all girls shower thrown by my college friends at Alodia's restaurant in Irmo. The second shower was a couple's shower hosted by Caralee & Steven, Katelyn and Matthew, and Angela and Bobby and it was held at Caralee and Steven's house. And the third shower was hosted by Betty, Amy and Rebecca at Pop and Betty's house. All of them were just precious and we just loved the nautical theme!!! Me and Pop even compared bellies to see which one was bigger LOL!
Happy 2013!!! The year you will be born!! We got to ring in the new year with some 4D pics of our precious baby boy! Although you didn't want to cooperate, she managed to get some good shots. You had your feet in front of your face and the umbilical cord was in the way so she only got a few good ones but they are beautiful none-the-less. I compared your 4D pics with Chappell's and you two look very similar...I think you are going to look a lot like your big sis ;) I love you lil' one and can't wait to meet you. - mommy
We took Chappell to Disney World a few weeks before Christmas. So technically you were there too ;). It was a blast as usual but unfortunately me and Chap both came back sick. That part was no fun but we still managed to have a great trip!
We took Chappell to the mall to sit on Santa's lap and have her picture taken in her new "Big Sister" shirt for our family Christmas card. She had so much fun! Santa wanted to take a pic with you too. See below. Love you lil' one and can't wait to meet you. -mommy
